New Line Cinema will place Shia LaBeouf (HBO's Project Greenlight) in a starring role in an as-yet-undetermined film to shoot this fall, and 20th Century Fox has cast him opposite Will Smith in I, Robot.

The film LaBeouf will first star in will likely be either Nothing but the Truth, Whitebread, or Bridge and Tunnel. "Truth" revolves around a hotel valet who finds himself magically transformed into the person he's always pretended to be, while "Whitebread" is about a wealthy white slacker who is forced to join an all-black fraternity in order to avoid losing his inheritance, and "Bridge" centers on a suburban 16-year-old who uses his parents' computer to become a day-trading multimillionaire.

LaBeouf previously starred in New Line's Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, Sony's Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Disney's Holes.

John Goodman in Comedy for CBS in 2004

John Goodman has closed a deal to star in a CBS sitcom targeted for fall 2004. The network has committed to a pilot from writer-producers Mitchel Katlin and Nat Bernstein, though the premise for the series is still being hammered out.

If the new project goes to series, it would be Goodman's first starring TV role since Fox's short-lived comedy Normal, Ohio in the 2000-01 season. He also had a small role in the drama series Now and Again, which ran on CBS in the 1999-2000 season.

Goodman has been nominated for an Emmy nine times, seven of them for his role as Roseanne Barr's frank and outspoken husband on ABC's blue-collar family comedy Roseanne.

On the big screen, Goodman is in the Bob Dylan vehicle Masked and Anonymous.

Composer Michael Kamen Passes Away

Oscar-nominated composer, conductor and arranger Michael Kamen, one of Hollywood's most sought-after musicians, died at age 55 Tuesday after suffering from multiple sclerosis for several years, members of his family said.

Kamen died in a hospital in London, where he had lived with his wife and two daughters. Doctors were unable to resuscitate Kamen following a "cardiac event."

The native New Yorker and Juilliard School of Music Graduate was one of Hollywood's most successful composers who worked on music for the "Lethal Weapon" series and scored Die Hard among many other films.

He was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996, but did not go public about the disease until late September. Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that causes various disabilities.

Kamen composed the music for such films as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Mr. Holland's Opus and X-Men, plus the HBO series Band of Brothers. He earned his first Academy Award nomination in 1991 for "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," the Bryan Adams pop hit from the movie, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

While production was pushed back, Moviehole tells us that there is news of a female star who may be coming aboard Mad Max: Fury Road.

We might soon have our first cast member [next to Mel that is] for "Mad Max 4: Fury Road". Moviehole can confirm that Australian actress Georgie Shew is indeed in talks for a role in the forthcoming Mel Gibson headed blockbuster. Shew has taken several meetings with casting agents for the film in the past couple of months, but as for which role, it�s unsure. Australian TV audiences would best recognize the pretty 23 year old actress for her role as Katy Turnbull on the high-rating series �Always Greener�.

George Miller is writing and will be directing the fourth installment.

Brenda Blethyn has joined the cast of Kevin Spacey's Bobby Darin biopic Beyond the Sea, which began shooting at Studio Babelsberg outside Berlin last week.

Spacey wrote, stars and is directing the $24 million film, which also stars John Goodman, Bob Hoskins, Greta Scacchi and Kate Bosworth as Sandra Dee, who was married to Darin from 1960 to 1967.

The film traces the tragic-heroic life of the late teen singing idol. Born with a rare heart condition that was to limit his life span to merely 16 years, Darin suvived to age 37 when he was felled by a blood infection contracted during open heart surgery. Darin produced such hit songs as "Splish Splash," "Mack the Knife' and "Beyond the Sea".

And Carol tries to put her plan in operation by sending Sam a copy of the tape, Sam thinks that it's for something kinky that Carol wants and when Sam tells her that he is going to do what was done on the tape to her, she assumes that he is going to kill her. So she sends another copy of the tape to the Chief of Police, and tells him that she wants him to arrest Sam for murdering Barbara, and the Chief is happy to oblige cause he is the guy who is on the tape. The Chief manages to find the instruments that Sam was going to use to kill Barbara and arrests him. Sam now has to get Barbara, alive, so that he can prove that he didn't kill her. And Barbara starts to bond with Sandy.

By now, the 27-year-old chestnut-haired Irish lothario should be halfway through a hot and heavy summer fling with Angelina Jolie, who recently was added to the cast of Farrell's upcoming Alexander (the Great).

George makes it clear that a covert agency is needed to police time travel, so the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC) is formed. Named as the director of the TEC is Commander Eugene Matuzak, formerly of the Washington DC police department. Senator Aaron McComb, who sees possibilities, agrees to chair the oversight on the new program. Sometime later, at a shopping center, TEC agent Max Walker and his wife Melissa are being watched by a pair of shady looking men. Later, at home. Max and Melissa spend some passionate time together. That night, Melissa is about to tell Max something extremely important when the phone rings. Max answers the phone and is told to go to TEC headquarters. Max gets dressed and as soon as Max opens the front door to go outside, he is attacked by the two men from the shopping center. As the two men are beating Max up. Max sees Aaron looking out the window of the bedroom that Melissa is still in, and Aaron is holding Melissa hostage, forcing Melissa to watch Max's beating. At TEC Headquarters in 2004, Aaron, Max, and Matuzak are showing Senator Malcolm Nelson around the TEC building. Aaron reminds everyone that people who go back in time risk coming into contact with a past version of themselves. The same matter cannot occupy the same space at the same time, because if that happens, and if it's a person accidentally making physical contact with their past version, that person will die, and their body will disappear from the face of the Earth. Later, Max tells Matuzak that Aaron wants to shut down the TEC so no one can stop him from altering the past to his advantage, because Aaron is now running for President of the United States. Aaron's fading campaign for president is dealt a blow when he is denied federal campaign matching funds. Just before Max wakes up, two men break into his home to kill him, but Max turns the tables and kills the two men who broke in. TEC internal affairs investigator Sarah Fielding questions Max. Max soon learns that Sarah may be on the wrong side in this. Max must travel back and forth in time to bring Aaron down...and when Max goes back to 1994 and finds out what Melissa wanted to tell him 10 years ago, it gives Max incentive to at least try to prevent Melissa's murder.

Foster was originally scheduled to direct the Depression-era circus drama in 2000, with Russell Crowe and Claire Danes starring. Jodie says the film is "very much in line with the stuff I love, very personal -- about artists and how they create families and destroy them."

The trade reports that Ewan McGregor, Meryl Streep and Claire Danes are still attached if the right deal can be found. Also, the movie is expected to have a lower budget than when it was close to going ahead the first time.

Story:
Former LA cop Brian O'Conner is now living in Miami illegally racing street cars for a living. However, when the police bust him, FBI Agent Bilkins (from the first film) shows up to offer him a deal. Carter Verone, a local crime lord, is looking for drivers to transport his hidden cash. Bilkins wants O�Conner to pose as a driver to help them bust Verone. An agent inside his organization, Monica Clemente, can set him up for the deal.

O�Connor agrees to help on one condition � he gets to pick his partner. Brian chooses Roman Pearce, a childhood friend and driving buddy who is now an ex-con. The only trick is getting Pearce to agree as well. He blames O�Connor for getting him sent to jail in the first place. However, he agrees to help. The two must reconcile and use all their street smarts and driving skills to bust Verone. They�ll also need some help from their other racing buddies to stay alive.

2 Fast 2 Furious is rated PG-13 for street racing, violence, language and some sensuality.

What Worked:
Like the first film, 2 Fast 2 Furious is a movie you expect to truly stink, yet it comes out of nowhere and ends up being pretty good. All the elements of the first film are here � fast cars, loud music, hot chicks, and tough pretty boys. However, the movie has a fresh new start that sets it apart from the original. In fact, you could probably watch the sequel without having ever seen the first movie.

A big part of what makes this movie fresh is the addition of Tyrese as Roman Pierce. He takes the place of Vin Diesel and does a fine job. He�s as tough and as cool as Diesel, yet he has a bit more life in him and comes across as a bit more intelligent. It also helps that Tyrese is a better actor. He can play the character as mean and intimidating and then switch to comedic and funny a heartbeat later. He teams perfectly with Paul Walker. The two act just like brothers. They fight with each other, joke with each other, and look out for each other just like siblings. Their exchanges keep the movie moving along and entertaining.

The rest of the cast doesn�t do a whole lot, but they do an adequate job of playing their parts. Eva Mendes looks like the Latina Cindy Crawford as Monica Clemente. She�s mainly eye candy, but she is tough in a couple of scenes. I think more could have been done with her character, but they do a good job of surrounding her with mystery. Is she one of the good guys or bad guys? Thom Barry also returns as Agent Bilkins. He�s a bit more likable in this role. He�s not quite the blowhard he was in the first go round.

As you would expect, this movie has some great car chases. More importantly, there are some cool car crashes. There are four main chase sequences in the film. The grand finale rivals The Blue Brothers and Cannonball Run for the sheer number of police cars destroyed. If you�re coming to this movie to see fast cars, you should be satisfied.

What Didn�t Work:
2 Fast 2 Furious did have a few problems. For example, whenever someone hits the button for nitrous oxide, the car goes to warp speed and everything blurs outside. I half expected to see Chewbacca sitting next to Paul Walker. It was a bit over-exaggerated. And while the first film praised the racing sub-culture, this film hardly focuses on it at all. There�s one race at the beginning, but the rest of the film barely deals with it. If that was a favorite aspect of the first film that you�re looking for again, you�ll be disappointed.

The main racing scene at the beginning also seemed a bit overdone. With the blaring rap music, guys acting tough, and women in tight clothes, it almost seemed like a movie clich�. If you took the scene out of context, you wouldn�t know if you were watching Biker Boyz, The Fast And The Furious, or any of the other racing movie clones out there. Fortunately, they drop this early and move on. In fact, the scenes without the racing are some of the most entertaining in the movie.

The Bottom Line:
Overall, 2 Fast 2 Furious is a worthy sequel to the original. It�s a fun popcorn flick that you should leave your brain at home to see.

FilmJerk.com sent us this update about the Cursed production.

FilmJerk.com has learned that the troubled Dimension Films production "Cursed," which was put on hiatus in June after 11 weeks of shooting was completed, will begin a new spate of filming beginning November 17 in Los Angeles. Along with this news, we have learned they are also in the casting process for a new lead character for the film. According to earlier online reports, Dimension and its parent company Miramax were not pleased with the film's original ending or how the special effects were turning out, which led to the film being put on hiatus.

According to our sources, and backed up by casting documents we have obtained, producers are looking to cast a character named Jake, who is in listed as being in his mid-to-late 20s. Described as "the ultimate leading man of mystery, he is handsome, with deep, piercing eyes and a small town charm. But there is also a real sense of darkness that is simultaneously unreachable and irresistible. With a secret life and questionable motives, he is someone to be approached with caution." These casting notes are currently being circulated among actor's agents. This character name does not match any of the previously cast roles listed on the film's page on either IMDB or Greg's Previews.

Harrison Ford told SCI FI Wire that Frank Darabont has completed his script for a proposed fourth Indiana Jones movie. "Steven [Spielberg]'s quite happy with it," Ford said in an interview. "I'm expecting to see it in a couple of weeks."

Ford added that he worked closely with director Spielberg, Darabont and executive producer George Lucas on the story. "The way the process works is that George and Frank work together, then Steven gets the script, then I get the script, and we all work together. We all met together and talked about it before they started writing."

Wondering what kind of money Keanu Reeves is pulling in from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions? Estimates are that Reeves will make anywhere from $90 million to near $200 million, with the latter figure probably more accurate, says Variety.

Reeves agreed to reprise his role in back-to-back sequels in 1999. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures paid $30 million against 15% of the gross for both films. Because "Reloaded" made so much when the theatrical split was weighted toward the studio that Reeves has burned through his $30 million advance and is already collecting 15% of the gross. Not bad, eh?

Since the first film grossed nearly twice as much abroad to get to $350 million, estimates are that the first sequel could reach $700 million worldwide. When box office is added to revenues from the videogame, DVD, TV sale and other ancillaries, Reeves' earning potential is massive.

It gets better on "Revolutions," because he earns 15% of everything the moment the film opens!

After wreaking havoc in the elf community due to his size, Buddy heads to New York City to find his place in the world, and track down his father. But life in the big city is not all sugarplums and candy canes. His father is a "Scrooge" and his eight-year-old stepbrother doesn't believe in Santa. Even the snowmen aren't friendly in New York. In fact, they don't even speak. Worst of all, everyone has forgotten the true meaning of Christmas, and it's up to Buddy and his simple elf ways to win over his family, realize his destiny and, ultimately, save Christmas for New York and the world.
