Brittany Murphy (Uptown Girls) is attached to star in Boyfriend in a Box, which will be written by Gren Wells as part of her two-picture deal with Warner Bros. Pictures. The project was sold as a pitch by Wells and is based on the novelty item of the same name.
The romantic comedy is about a girl who is not looking for love and so acquires the novelty toy "Boyfriend in a Box" in order to keep friends and family from bugging her about her love life. Soon she finds she must produce the man, only to learn that the real life guy is nothing like the boxed boyfriend.
Murphy just wrapped shooting Little Black Book for Revolution Studios and Blue Star Pictures.
Wells is writing Diary of a Mad Bride, based on an original book written by Laura Wolf. David Levine and Gina Marcheschi of Zealot Films and Josie Rosen will produce that pic for Warner Bros. She also has set up Earthbound at 20th Century Fox with John Davis producing and Peter Naess directing, and Beard for Gold Circle Films.
