CBS has made a deal with helmer-scribe John Herzfeld (15 Minutes) and producers Lawrence Bender (Kill Bill: Vol. 1) and Kevin Brown (Roswell) to develop an hourlong Vegas-set drama called Dr. Vegas, about an young, unconventional doctor who lives and works in an old-school, Palms-like hotel-casino.
Herzfeld said the idea for the show was loosely inspired by "Dr. Fink," an actual longtime house doctor for Caesars Palace.
Herzfeld said the show will tell "medical stories, but with a lighter touch and a little bit of a quirky edge. It's about a house doctor in a new Las Vegas casino that's trying to establish itself as unlike the big casinos run by nameless, faceless corporations."
The Casino hires the doctor to treat employees and guests who need attention. "He'll be a good-looking guy, who's caring, smart and has a little bit of a wild side," Herzfeld added.
